DMITRIY MENDELEYEV research vessel

Built as a research vessel under yard No 187 by VEB Mathias Thesen Werft, Wismar, East Germany, for the Russian Government.
Launched under the name DMITRIY MENDELEYEV.
Tonnage 5.560/5.497 gross, 1.349/1.401 net, 1.999/2.059dwt. Dim. 124.21 x 17.05 x 6.06/8.18m.
Two MAN 6-cyl Halberstad diesels, 8.000 bhp, twin shafts, speed 18.25 knots.
Two thwartship thrust propellers forward.
Crew 154.
Ice-strengthened.
1968 Completed and delivered to the Institute of Oceanology, with homeport Vladivostok.

2001 After the breakup of the USSR transferred to the flag of the Ukraine, renamed GLORIA.
If she ever has sailed under this name is doubtful, she was already the same year scrapped.

The name on the stamp is not correct spelled.

I can't find that she was used as GLORIA, Miramar gives that she always has been sailing under the Russian flag with homeport Vladivostok.
30 April 2001 arrived Alang, India and was beached 18 May 2001 for scrapping.
IMO No 6806896.
