KARNIKA had been due to recommence cruising this month, but rising debts and the financial impact of COVID-19 on cruise operations globally led creditors to take action in March. Crew members appealed to India’s authorities for support in mid-October, while stuck on the vessel in ‘poor conditions’ as court proceedings were underway.Jalesh Cruises - a start-up that had catered to the Indian domestic, as well as international source markets - purchased the ship from P&O Australia last year and renamed it from PACIFIC JEWEL in KARNIKA
