This yacht is on the official 1987 America's Cup stamp set.
On the stamps she is titled "potential challenger".

The yacht on the Grenadines of St Vincent is the ITALIA (1) sail no I-7, she is a contender in the 1987 Louis Vuitton cup in Fremantle, Australia against the FRENCH KISS the other yacht in the background of that stamp. She finished 7th in this race.
The yacht on the Solomon Islands carried not a sail No.; it can be the ITALIA 1 or 2.

Both yachts were racing in the Louis Vuitton cup for the Yacht Club Italiano, Genoa sponsored by Consorzio Italia syndicate, which was backed by the couturier Gucci.
The boats were skippered by Flavio Scala and Aldo Migliaccio.

ITALIA was a 12 metre yacht designed by Giorgetti & Magrini SRL in Milan and built by Cantieri Navali Baglietto at Varazze, Italy for Consorzio Italia.
