GAIOLA

The GAIOLA plays on the rivers of Brazil, she are motorized and used in the River Amazonas and Rio Tapajos, original she were steamboats, but nowadays fitted with a diesel engine.
The GAIOLA a craft with not much comfort for the passengers, which have to sleep in hammocks on deck, which according verbal tradition gives her the name gaiola (bird cage).
The first GAIOLA was used on the River Sao Francisco in 1870.
The stamp depict a paddle steam GAIOLE with a stern wheel, with outside cabins.
Shallow draught.
Crew 26 and accommodation for more as 50 passengers.

Currently many are now modernized and used for cruises with tourist on the rivers, but still she are in the interior of Brazil the best form of transport for the local population.
