ABEILLE BOURBON tug

The French Post issued in 2011 twenty-four collectors sheets for each region in France one. Each m.s. has 10 self-adhesive stamps for a first class mail letter up to 20g.

The hull was built by Maritime Ltd., Gdansk, Poland then towed to Gursken, Norway where she was completed as a tug/fire fighting ship under yard No 39, for GIE Abeille Bourbon, (Groupe Bourbon.), Marseilles, France
Tonnage 3,167 grt, 980 net, 1,811 dwt. Dim. 80 x 16.5 x 8m., length bpp. 68.6m, draught 6m.
Powered by four 8-cyl. MAK diesel engines, manufactured by Caterpillar Motoren GmbH & Co. Kg, Kiel. 16,000 kW (21,740 hp.), two controllable pitch propellers, speed 19.6 knots.
Bunker capacity 1,645 m³.
Bollard pull 201 tonnes.
Accommodation for 14 crew and 8 passengers.
One deck crane of 23 tonnes and a store and provision crane of 10 tonnes.
Carried 2 MP-741 Springer rescue boats and 1 Weedo 17.
24 February 2005 completed. Homeport Brest.

13 April 2005 christened as the ABEILLE BOURBON by Bernadette Chirac the wife of the former President of France Jacques Chirac.
She is on a long time charter for the French government as a UT 515 Multi Purpose Salvage Tug/Coast Guard and Standby Safety vessel and can called up by the Maritime Prefect of Brest at any time.

2011 In service, same name and owners. IMO No 9308687.
