Built as a mono-hull patrol and rescue boat by Image Marine’s Shipbuilding at Cockburn Sound, Fremantle, Western Australia for the Australian Government.
Length 17 metre.
Powered by two Detroit 6V 92Ta diesel engines. Twin screws, speed 26 knots.
April 1986 delivered (some sources give 1992, which is more probably the first rescue was in 1992).
She was delivered under the name R.J.HAWKE, and named after the former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke.

After delivery based at the Cocos(Keeling) Islands.
Within weeks of arriving in the Territory the vessel completed a search and rescue mission of the crew of the Australian yacht SNIZORT.
Three people were rescued 120 nautical miles of Cocos on Saturday 27 June 1992.
When the regular ferry goes in maintenance she is also used as ferry.
