The BARSØ ferry makes up to six return trips a day between Barsø Landing on Løjt Land and Barsø. The trip takes 15 minutes. She replaced the old Dutch riverboat that had plied the route since 1972. Barsø is one of the smallest inhabited islands, covering only 2.26 square kilometres. It lies in the Little Belt off Genner Bay just northeast of Aabenraa. Barsø is very hilly and unusually beautiful. Tourists are not allowed to take their cars to Barsø, so it is also very quiet. The island is covered with lots of hedges and dry stone walls - only interrupted by the island's narrow and winding gravel roads. The roads are surrounded by hedges with blackberries, wild gooseberries, ash and whitethorn, wild hips and sloe. From the highest point on the island, Gyldenbjerg (39 metres above sea level), there is a magnificent view of the whole island and the waters around Barsø.

28 November 1980 launched as BARSØFÆRGEN.
