U-24 1912

Built at Germaniawerft, Kiel. Displacement was 669 to 864 tons. Her dimension were 212.5 times 20.5 by 11.7 feet. Armed with four 20in torpedoes, one 3.4in gun.
Powered by 2 diesel engines giving 1700bhp and two other motors giving 1200bhp with 2 shafts. Speed on surface was 17 knots whilst she travelled at a submerged speed of 9 to 10 knots. Complement 35.
First U-Boat under Kapitanleutenant Schneider to attack an unarmed merchant ship the Belgian "Amiral Ganteaume" by torpedo without warning on the 26th October 1914. Sank HMS Formidable on New Years' Day in 1915 and White Star Liner "Arabic" on 19th August 1915.

Yard No 178.
05 February 1912 keel laid down.
24 May 1913 launched.
06 December 1913 commissioned.

After World War I scrapped in Swansea in 1922.
