U-35 submarine

The stamp is designed after the model on the photo, which give on the conning tower 35 which is the U-35.

Built as a type VIIA U-Boat under yard No 558 by the Krupp Germania yard in Kiel for the German Navy.
25 March 1935 ordered.
02 March 1936 laid down.
24 September 1936 launched as the U-35.
Displacement 626 ton surfaced, 745 ton submerged, dim. 64.51 x 5.85 x 4.37m. (draught when surfaced.)
Powered by two 6-cyl. MAN diesel engines, 2,300 hp. Two Brown Boveri & Cie. electro motors, 750 shp. Speed above water 17 knots, submerged 8 knots.
Range by a speed of 10 knots on surface 6,200 mile, submerged 94 mile by a speed of 4 knots.
Maximum dive depth 220 m.
Armament: ! – 88mm deck gun and 4/1 bow stern tubes, carried 11 torpedoes. 22 mines.
Crew 42-46 men.
03 November 1936 commissioned, under command of Captain Klaus Ewerth.

She was a unit of the 2 Flotilla.
After World War broke out she made three war patrols in which she sunk four ships and damaged one.
29 November 1939 she was sunk in position 60 53N 02 47E by depth-charges from the British destroyers HMS KINGSTON, HMS ICARUS and HMS KASHMIR the complete crew of the U-35 was rescued and taken POW in the U.K.
