EAGLE US 60 yacht

Built as a 12-metre class yacht by Williams Manchester Shipyard, Newport, Rhode Island for the Eagle Challenge in Newport Beach, Ca, USA.
She represented the Newport Harbour Yacht Club at Newport Beach, California.
Designed by Johan Valentijn.
06 April 1986 launched as the EAGLE US 60 at the Mariners Mile Shipyard, Newport Beach.
Displacement 27.2 tons. Dim. 20.33 x 3.93 x 2.80m (draught), length on waterline 15.17 m.
Sail area 143.44 m².
She took part in the 1987 America Cup challenger eliminations in Freemantle, Australia under skipper Rod Davis, finishing 10th.
1993 Sold to Don Oakes, Portland OR, not renamed.
1994 Stripped for parts, sitting on Spencers Boat Yard, Key West, Fl. in pieces for quite some time, thereafter broken up.

Grenadines of St Vincent 1988 65c sg548, scott580. (the inscription on the stamp gives her name as CRUSADER II, but the sail no is US 60 which belong to the United States yacht EAGLE, the yacht in the background is not identified.)
