Seen on this miniature sheet of Libya in the margin are the Project 205 ER built fast attack missile boats, known under the NATO code name OSA II. The sheet was issued for the 12th Anniversary of first September Revolution 1981
Built as an export version by the Soviet Union in large quantities on various yards for many navies in the world.
Libya got 12 units the first the AL ZATUM (511) was delivered in October 1976 and the last the Al SADAD was delivered in April 1980.
Displacement 243 tons, dim. 38.6 x 7.6 x 2.0m. (draught)
Powered by three M-504B diesels total 15,000 hp, three fixed propellers, speed 42 knots.
Armament 4 – missile launchers KT-67 anti-ship missiles P-15U. 2 – 30mm AK-230 guns.
Crew 29.
I am not sure if there are any of this craft in service by the Libyan Navy after the Arabian Spring uprising and the civil war in the country.
Cuba got 26 units of this class of which one is depict on a stamp issued in 1973. The pennant number on her site 275 is the original number under which she was built. She was delivered January 1977 and decommissioned in 1998.

The two stamps issued by Iraq in 1987 for the Army Day shows us a missile craft underway, the starboard missile launchers are visible. Iraq has only a small coastline of around 30 miles on the entrance of the Shatt-al-Arab River, and the navy of that country is small. At that time when the stamp was issued the country did have a navy of only Russian built ships.
The missile craft in use were from the type OSA I and OSA II of which 13 were bought between 1972 and 1976 from Russia.
The class is not more in service. The remaining Iraqi fleet was destroyed in the Gulf War of 1991.
Most probably one of the OSA II class is depict, but I can see little difference between the two classes, only the missile launchers on the I are square and on the II round, but I can’t make out from the stamp of they are round or square.
