About 1445g King Eric sent his cousin-in-law, Henry the Navigator, a copy of the famous series of Claudius Clavus northern part of the map. These cards conclusion about the existence of marine Lane parallel west coast of Greenland and leading directly from the Atlantic Ocean to China. Henry first step, according to Larsen had to offer Danish observers swimming in the Portuguese expedition along the coast of Africa, its purpose is to set a precedent for the Portuguese escort Danes travel to Greenland. In the middle of 144O, Danish nobleman called Vallarte, arrived in URT Portuguesceo, presented his credentials to Christopher of Bavaria, King of the Union, that on Vallarte charged with the mission to search for Prester John and explore India. Vallarte joined the expedition Fernau d`Afonsu at 1448g, reached the area of Cape Verde, Guinea, but landed on the shore, he was captured, was imprisoned and was killed. Ten years later, a new Danish emissary named Laaland, arrived in Portugal for the same purpose, but also failed. These events were the origin of the long-standing ties between Denmark and Portugal.
