IQUQIUE 1879. War broke out in 1879 between Chile against Bolivia and Peru and lasted until 1883. The first engagement was the battle of Angamos in which two Chilean warships succeeded in capturing a Peruvian vessel. After this the Chilean naval squadron took and secured Antofagasta.
