NEDLLOYD HOUTMAN 1977

This stamp shows us a partly open model of the Dutch container ship NEDLLOYD HOUTMAN what was made of synthetic material.
The container vessel after the model was made was built under yard No 904 partly by Verolme Dok-en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij N.V. Rozenburg near Rotterdam, the forepart was built by the Nederlandse Dok-en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij V.o.F., Amsterdam for the Koninklijke Nedlloyd Group in Rotterdam.
18 August 1976 laid down.
06 November 1976 the foreship was launched at Amsterdam.
19 February 1977 launched as the NEDLLOYD HOUTMAN. Christened by Princess Beatrix (Queen Beatrix latter) on 23 September 1977 at the Wilhelminakade in Rotterdam.
Tonnage 52,562 grt, 21,637 nrt, 49,262 dwt, dim. 258.5 x 32.31 x 24.16m., length bpp 247.4m, draught maximum 13.02m.
Powered by two 8-cyl. Sulzer diesel engines, manufactured by N.V. Koninklijke Maatschappij “de Schelde”, Vlissingen (Flushing), 53,600 hp, speed 23,5 knots. Two bowthrusters.
7 Holds, capacity for 2,714 TEU’s of which 352 reefer containers.
November 1977 delivered to owners. At that time she was the largest container vessel in the world.

She was built for the service between Noord Europa and the Far East, later also to Australia and New Zealand.
1980 Renamed in LARGS BAY after she was chartered by the Overseas Containers Limited (OCL) for the Trio service from Europa to the Far East.
1982 Again renamed by owners in NEDLLOYD HOUTMAN, but the same year again renamed in LARGS BAY when again chartered by OCL.
1990 Renamed by owners in NEDLLOYD HOUTMAN.
1998 Renamed in ARAMAC by P&O Nedlloyd Container Line B.V. Rotterdam.
17 August 2000 registered under Bahamas flag, with homeport Nassau.
October 2000 renamed by owners in P&O NEDLLOYD ADELAIDE.
08 December 2006 sold to Sky Interest Shipping Co. Ltd. (Dyna Liners), Hong Kong and renamed SKY INTEREST.
06 January 2007 commenced scrapping at Chittagong, she arrived at Chittagong under Tuvaluan flag.
