SPANISH MARINE CORPS 450th ANNIVERSARY

Spain issued one stamp in 1987 to honour the 450th anniversary of the founding of the Spanish Marine Corps, the first founded Marine Corps in the world. The mariner depict carries the flag of the battalion of the XVIII century, the current shield of the corps is depict on the right of the stamp.
The sail frigate in the background is not named, and most probably a Spanish frigate from the 18th century.
