Built in 1952-'52 by Societé des Ateliers & Chantiers de France, Dunkerque, #209 for Messageries Maritimes, Marseille, launced on 24 April '52, delivered in September '52.
Cargo/passengership, Gt:12,712, Nt:8,444, Displacement:17,500 tons, Loa:167,35m. B:20,60m. Draft:7,80m. 2-10 cyl. Burmeister & Wain/Penhöet diesels:11,900 hp. 2 shafts, 16 kn. pass. 1st class:71, tourist class:84 3th class:86, steerage:122.
Maiden trip Marseille - Panama - Sydney, service Marseille - Antilles - Panama - Papeete - Nouméa - Australia, in '56 she brought General de Gaulle to Fort de France, Nouméa.
01-10-'71 laid up in Marseille, November '72 sold to C.S. Efthymiadis, Famagusta (Island of Cyprus Shipping Co., Panama) renamed NISOS KYPROS, same year in ISLAND OF CYPRUS, service in the Mediterranean Sea, '75 laid up and in '77 demolished.
