Built as an icebreaker tug rescue-salvage vessel under yard No 217 by Nordic Yards Wismar GMBH, Wismar, Germany for the Russian Government.
19 December 2012 ordered.
12 November 2013 laid down.
21 September 2014 launched as the BERINGOV PROLIV, (Bering Strait) she was one of project MPS V06.
Displacement: 5,177 ton, tonnage 4,766 grt, 1,417 dwt., dim. 86.97 x 18.38 x 8.50m., length bpp.70.60m, draught 6.00m.Powered, diesel electric by four each 3,000 hp W6L 32 diesel engines, which delivered power to two each 3,500 hp propulsion engines, two azipod’s propellers. Maximum speed 15 knots.
Three bow thrusters.
Accommodation for 26 crew, and 12 other persons and 95 berth for survivors
Cargo capacity 800m³ and capacity of 12 FEU containers.
Two cargo cranes each of 32 ton.
10 October 2015 completed.
18 December 2015 delivered to owners in Vladivostok. Homeport Korsakov, Sakhalin Oblast. Building cost 75 million Euro.
MPSV06 class vessels are a series of three icebreaking salvage vessels, one of which is being built in Russia and two that have been ordered from the German shipbuilder Nordic Yards Wismar. The first vessel of the class, SPASATEL PETR GRUZINSKIY, was reportedly laid down at Amur Shipbuilding Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia, already in 2010 but has not been launched as of 2014. The second and third vessels, BERINGOV PROLIV and MURMAN , were laid down in November 2013 at Nordic Yards and launched in September 2014. Both ships were delivered on December 2015.
The ice class of the vessels, assigned by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, is Icebreaker6. They will have two large cranes, for salvage, and a landing platform for helicopters. They will be capable of operating remotely operated underwater vehicles, and will have decompression facilities sufficient to support a team of deep divers.

• fire fighting of burning fuel on water, oil spills response service emergency oil and oil product spill, including with flash point lower than 60°C.;
• survey and cleaning underwater hull of vessels, floating and coastal objects;
• inspection of a sea-bottom and damaged objects on depths down to 1000 m by towing equipment and ROVs;
• take off and landing platform for reception of the helicopter "Ka-32" type without permanent basing.
