HMS Gibraltar was a 101-gun screw first-rate launched in 1860, on loan as a training ship in 1872, renamed Grampian in 1889, and sold 1899.

Built as a 2nd Rate wooden hulled warship by Devonport Dry-dock for the Royal Navy.
31 March 1855 ordered.
October 1858 laid down.
16 August 1860 launched as the HMS GIBRALTAR one of the Duncan class.
Tonnage 3,729 ton (bm), displacement 5,724 ton. Dim. 252.0 x 58.1 x 25.6 ft. (draught), length of keel 213.10 ft.
Armament: Lower deck 36 – 8 inch, upper deck 36 – 32 pdrs., quarter-deck/ fo’c’sle 28 – 32 pdrs. and 1 – 68 pdr.
Machinery one 2-cyl. horizontal single expansion steam engine, manufactured by Maudslay, Son & Field, 3,448 ihp., one shaft, speed 10.9 knots.
Crew 930.
28 August 1860 completed but stayed at Devonport till 1863.

08 September 1863 commissioned under command of Captain James Charles Prevost and sailed for the Mediterranean.
26 November 1864 command changed to Captain Robert Coote, still based in the Mediterranean.
1867 Paid off at Devonport till 1872, then lent as a training ship for boys at Belfast in 1872.
!889 renamed as GRAMPIAN.
July 1899 sold to Castle and broken up at Charlton.
