THE GREAT SHIPS XVII

Post by Anatol » Sat Mar 24, 2018 4:41 pm

At the beginning of the XVI-XVII century, the peak and sunset of the rowing galleys on the Mediterranean took place, the first oceanic military sailboats appeared and the first sea battles took place, in which the cannon served as the main weapon. On ships increased the number of masts and sails, and navigators gained more experience and confidence. Mass population of America began, which generated demand for ocean vessels, new markets opened, the struggle for markets intensified, and new resources were released. It was necessary to protect the overseas markets from competitors. All this helped to improve sailing ships. On a small sheet, issued by Somalia, depicts five ships, which are bright representatives of the XVII century.
