MOCTEZUMA or MONTEZUMA

MOCTEZUMA as given on the Chilean Navy web-site but she is also given in some sources as MONTEZUMA, a schooner was captured on 24 March 1819 off Callao. Peru by the corvette CHACABUCO under command of Admiral Thomas Alexander Cochrane.
She was built in 1815 with a displacement of 200 tons.
Armament 8 guns.

She was a North American corvette and under orders of the Spanish Minister of the EE.UU, the schooner did belong to the Spanish Compania de Pilipinas of Lima.
She carried a cargo of contraband that consisted of naval guns, sables, ammunition, equipments, food and other articles.

22 January 1820 transported troops for the capture of the town of Valdivia, and used by Admiral Cochrane during the raid and capture of the town as flagship.

She was the last Chilean vessel in which Admiral Cochrane hoisted his flag.

Was the fastest ship in the Chilean Navy at that time.

1828 Sold, thereafter used as a merchant vessel.
Fate unknown.

On the Argentine stamp is she the fourth vessel.
