AMATSU MARU

Built as a standard tanker type 1TLof World War II under yard No 911 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Nagasaki for Nippon Kaiun K.K., Tokyo.
08 November 1942 keel laid down.
23 March 1943 launched as AMATSU MARU.
Tonnage 10.558 gross, 15.600 dwt, dim. 161 x 20m., length bpp 154.2m.
Powered by one steam turbine 8.600 shp, one propeller, speed 15 knots. During her trial she made a speed of 18.21 knots.
10 June 1943 completed.

Later taken over by Nippon Kaiun K.K., thereafter by the Japanese Navy.
27 March 1944 arrived at Palau Port from Singapore with on board 6.853 ton heavy fuel, during discharging on 30 March 1944 sunk after American air attacks at Palau, she was first hit near the engine room starboard side, and water flowed in the engine room, after a other bomb hit her, she got on fire, she sank in position 07 30 N 134 30E.
