Built as a transport by Halifax Shipyard Ltd., Halifax, Canada for the Argentine Government (Ministrio de Marina), Buenos Aires.
Launched under the name BAHIA THETIS.
Tonnage 3.831 gross, 2.100 net. Displacement 3.100 tons standard, 5.000 tons full load. Dim. 336.0 x 47.2ft. Draught 5.64m.
Powered by two 5-cyl oil engines, manufactured by Nordberg Mfg. Co. Milwaukee, 3.750 bhp., speed 16 knots. Bunker capacity: oil 500 tons. Radius 15.000 miles. Two screws.
Armament: 2 – 4.1 inch, 2 – 40mm Bofors AA 2 – 20mm NA AA, 4 – 47mm saluting guns.
Crew 100.
August 1950 delivered.

She arrived on her maiden voyage in her home country on October 1950.
1952 When Argentine bought two cruisers in the United States, she transported the two crews to man the cruisers from Argentine to the United States.
From 1952 she was used as a school and training ship by the Military Naval School.
Between 1952 and 1960 she made 8 voyages with cadets, it visited, among others the ports of Marseille. El Callao, El Pireo, Cartagena, Haifa, Vera Cruz, New Orleans, Le Havre, Bremen, Valparaiso, Southampton and Ushuaia.
1962 She was in civil service on the south coast of Argentine.
1972 She transported the heavy water used in the nuclear power station of Atucha from Europe to Argentine.
February 1974 decommissioned, and sold for scrap.
When she was broken up she had made 600.000 miles under Argentinean flag.
