Container ship bult 1977 Italia Cantieri, Genoa for Lloyd Triestino Line 27500GT L682’ B100’ Dr 34’. Two GEC D&H geared steam turbines 37479shp. 23kn. – Italy SG1555.

The container vessel "AFRICA" was built in 1976 under yard no. 4332 by Italcantieri, Genoa, for Lloyd Triestino SpA di Nav., Italia.
By launching she got the name "AFRICA".
Tonnage 27.836 gross, 15.281 net, 23.942 dwt., dim. 208.13 x 30.56 x 10.39m. (draught). Length bpp. 191.9m.
Powered by two gasturbines manufactured by Cantieri Navali Riuniti 37.479 shp., speed 23 knots.
Cargo capacity 1.189 TEU's of which 773 can be stowed in the holds and 416 on deck. Has 107 reefer plugs.
Crew 41, berthed in single air-conditioned cabins.
Completed 1977
Her maiden voyage was from Genoa in January 1977. She was the first of three ships built for the service between Italy and South Africa
1988 Did she make a voyage between Trieste and Cape Town.
1990 Renamed in ORANJE for a charter to Safmarine.
1991 Renamed again in "AFRICA".
1992 Sold to Rimare Co. Ltd., Panama, renamed MSC DANIELE
1998 Sold to Indian shipbreakers, and she arrived at Alang on 02-01-1999.
