Built as a tanker under yard No 536 by J.Bolson, Poole, U.K. for Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd., London.
19 December 1960 launched under the name ESSO DOVER.
Tonnage 490 gross, 200 net, 565 dwt, dim. 53.6 x 8.3 x 3.3m. (draught), length bpp. 46.6m.
Powered by a 5-cyl Mirrlees diesel engine 530 bhp., one propeller, speed 10 knots.
Loading capacity for oil in 5 tanks.
1961 Completed.
Most probably used by Esso for their U.K. coastal oil trade.
1980 Sold to Cherry Marine Ltd., London, renamed CHERRYBOBS.
1981 Sold to Namibia Seafood Ind. Ltd., Panama and renamed BOSUN BIRD, managed by St Helena Shipping Co, Penzance.
Used at St Helena to transfer oil from ships to shore, and most probably also as bunkerboat.
1992 Sold to Al-Shaz Ltd. Mombasa, Kenya and renamed ALREEN.IMO No 5107267.
2006 Not more in http://www.equasis.org but she is still around under the name ALREEN, under the flag of St Vincent & the Grenadines, her class was suspended in 2001.
Managed by Alba Petroleum, Mombassa. Most probably used in the port of Mombasa as a bunker boat. SG529
