Built as a refrigerated modular container vessel under yard no 960 by Bremer Vulkan at Vegesack, Germany for the Associated Container Transportion (Australia) Ltd., at London. The company was a consortium of 6 English shipping companies.
05 Sept. 1972 launched under the name ACT 6
Tonnage 25.162 gross, 15.004 net, 28.104 dwt., dim. 217.3 x 29.0 x 15.9m., between pp 207.8m., draught 10.8m.
Powered by two Stal-Laval steam turbines, manufactured by the builder, 32.000 hp., speed 22 knots. One screw.
Passenger accommodation for 10 passengers in four doubles and two single cabins.
Carried 1.365 TEU’s.
22 Dec. 1972 delivered to owners.
1974 Transferred to the Port Line at London.
10 Jan. 1987 arrived at the yard of IHI at Nagoya to be converted in a motor vessel. Fitted out with a Sulzer 8RTA62 oil engine, 17.100 bhp., speed ?
1989 her tonnage given by Lloyds as 25.031 gross, 10.707 net, 28.037 dwt.
10 Oct.1991 Renamed in QUEENSLAND STAR. an transferred to Blue Star Pace Ltd. (Pacific America Container Express), Bahamas.
25 Jan 1992 repainted in Blue Star colours at Wellington.
On 9 Feb. 1998 P&O Nedlloyd announced their acquisition of Blue Star Line Ltd. and its container shipping interest for $60 million under which the QUEENSLAND STAR.
15 Nov 2002 sailed from Wellington, New Zealand; it was her last visit to that port.
10 Feb. 2003 arrived at Shaghai and handed over to Chinese shipbreakers on 14 Feb. 2003 for demolition.
