]H.M.S. Bermuda, a "Crown Colony" class cruiser, was built by John Brown, Clydebank, ordered in 1939 and launched on September 11, 1941. Displacement 8,000 tons. Complement 980. Guns: 12 6-in., 8 4
in. Sister ship to the Nigeria, she became part of the British Pacific Fleet after three years of active service. She took part in the North African landings with the assault force off Algiers. She became the flagship of the 12th Cruiser Squadron and later, in 1943, of the 1st Cruiser Squadron, off the Norwegian coast. She was part of the dummy striking force in the North Sea four days after the assault in Normandy to deceive the enemy. Her cruiser companions were H.M.S. Berwick and H.M.S. Jamaica, in Home Fleet strikes against the Tirpitz. Her story ended when she arrived at Ward's shipbreaking yard, Briton Ferry, on August 26, 1965.
