GOTHIC, Shaw, Savill & Albion, Ltd., Southampton ; gross 15,911; net 9,115, dwt., 11,530 tons. Built 1948, by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Ltd., at Wallsend-on-Tyne. Length 561'0"; breadth 72'3"; draught 29'7"; depth 40'7". Six steam turbines. 17 knots. 85 1st-class passengers. U.K. New Zealand service, via Panama Canal. Royal Yacht for Commonwealth Tour of 1953-54, and painted white. Caught fire in the Pacific in 1968 and was badly damaged. Broken up at Taiwan later that year, (Cocos (Keeling) Islands, 1976 SG31).
