Post by shipstamps » Sun Jul 06, 2008 2:54 pm

This cruiser was the Royal Navy's cadet training ship and her cruises to the West Indies familiarised thousands of young Naval officers with the islands and their people. Of 9,800 tons approx., 565 ft. x 58 ft. she had seven 7.5in, four 3in., and six 12 pdr. guns. Built at Devonport Dockyard in 1920, she was sold in 1949 for breaking up by Cashmore, at Newport, Mon.
