Windsor Castle

Post by shipstamps » Sun Jul 06, 2008 2:50 pm

A Post Office packet, which left Falmouth with mail and passengers for the West Indies under temporary command of William Rogers, when she was chased on October 1, 1807, by an armed schooner which overhauled her and ordered her to surrender. This turned out to be the French privateer Jeune Richard mounting 9-pounders against the packet's 4-pounders. After an action of two hours, Rogers boarded the Frenchman and carried the day.
