The Philippines issued two stamps in 1979 of the foundation day of their navy on 23 June 1898.
The stamp depict a patrol boat of the Kagitingan class of which four were built by W.Muller, Hamelin, Germany (the place is known for her folk tale of ‘the pied piper of Hamelin’)
The first two were built at Hamelin, the other two is not sure of she were built there or send over as a kit-set and assembled at Cavite.
The pennant No on the stamps shows 102, which belong to the BAGONG LAKAS, (the 2 is not clear can be also a 3) No 103 belonging to the KATAPANGAN, but she was commissioned in 1982 after the stamp was issued, an not possible to be depict on the stamp issued in 1979.

Built as a small patrol boat, launched under the name BAGONG LAKAS (P102)
Displacement 132 ton standard 149 tons full load. Dim. 37 x 6.2 x 1.7m.
Powered by Two MB diesels 2.050 bhp., twin shafts, speed 16 knots.
Armament 1 twin 30mm Emerson Electric gun mount. 4 – 50cal. MG. 2 – 7.62mm MG.
Crew 30 including 4 officers.
1979 Commissioned.

The design was not successful; the class was underpowered and not able to reach the top speed of 28 knots as planned.
The class was discarded by 1992 but reactivated in 1994; only the KATAPANGAN is decommissioned and used for spares for the other three of the class.
2019 Still 3 of the class under which the BAGONG LAKAS in service.
