To commemorate the Caribbean Free Trade Area Conference of July 1 1968 the St. Christopher-Nevis¬Anguilla Post Office issued two stamps, of 25c and 50c values, in the same design, a cargo vessel with "Carifta" on her sides. The vessel is the Jamaica Producer, built in 1962 by Lithgows, Ltd., Port Glasgow, for the Jamaica Banana Producers S.S. Co. Ltd., Kingston, Jamaica. She does not of course, have "Carifta" painted on her sides. The ship is engaged in the London-Jamaica service, her gross tonnage being 5,781 and net 3,112. Deadweight is 5,100 tons on dimensions 397.0 (o.a.) x 56.3 x 24.1 ft. Refrigerated cargo space amounts to 223,967 cub. ft. Her engines are of the Sulzer type, supplied by D. Rowan and Co.
