FALKLANDS PROTECTOR

Built as a stern-trawler under yard no B427/B01 in 1968 on the yard of Stoczniz im Komuny Paryskiej at Gdansk, Poland, for Boyd Line Ltd. at Hull, Great Britain.
Launched under the name "ARCTIC PRIVATEER".
Tonnage 999 BRT, 315 NRT, 1.086 ton deadweight, dim. 65.3 x 12.10 x 4.998m.
Powered by a 4SA 8 cyl. Mirrlees diesel, 1.865 kW. (2.500 bhp.), speed 14.5 knots.
September 1968 delivered to owners.

April 1974 bought for around one million Pound by the English Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, (Torry Research Station) and refitted in a fishery-research vessel, by the London Graving Dock Shiprepairs Ltd. from Oct 1975 till April 1977. She was fitted out with a wet fish laboratory and fishrooms, a main laboratory and the accommodation were altered, given accommodation for 6 officers, 18 ratings and 6 scientists.
1976 renamed in "G.A.REAY", named after Dr. George Reay who was the superintendent/Director of the Torry Research Station 1937-1964.
She was lengthened to 69.3 meter.
Accommodation for 6 officers, 16 ratings and 6 scientists.
In 1979 was her homeport Aberdeen, Scotland.

It looks that she has been sold afterwards, when she was chartered in 1986 by the British Ministry of Defence, her owner is given as J.Marr & Sons Ltd. Renamed "FALKLAND RIGHT".
1987 Renamed by Marr in "EASTELLA".
1990 As owner given G.A.Reay Ltd. Uk, given as fishing patrol vessel, and renamed "FALKLANDS PROTECTOR".
1993 Sold by Eastella Ltd. UK to Aquanymph Nav. Co. Ltd, Malta, renamed "AQUANYMPH".
(Most probably all the companies named before belong to J.Marr & Sons.)
1996 Renamed by Aquanymph Nav. Co. Ltd. Malta in "OCEAN BREEZE".
Sold by M.M. Trawling (Malta) Ltd., Belize under the name "OCEAN BREEZE" to Indian ship breakers, reported May 2001.
