SZENT ISTVAN cargo vessel 1892

Hungary issued in 1993 two stamps both depicts a ship with the name SZENT ISTVÁN.

The 10F stamp depict a cargo vessel, built under yard No 278 by Wigham Richardson & Co., New Castle, U.K. for the Royal Hungarian Sea Nav. Co. Adria Ltd., Fuime.
Launched under the name SZENT ISTVÁN, named after the first Christian King of Hungary (975-1078).
Tonnage 2.258 gross, dim. 285.0 x 38.2ft.
One triple expansion steam engine, speed 13 knots.
October 1892 delivered to owners.

28 September 1908 on a voyage from Fiume via Oporto to Glasgow, loaded with 3.500 tons of flour, she grounded west of Ramsay Island, Pembrokeshire, Wales in a position of 51 51.2N 05 20.5W, at the northern end of Ynysbery.
The crew launched the lifeboat and left the SZENT ISTVÁN except six men who tied themselves to the mast, where they stayed for 48 hours before they were rescued, three of this six men died through cold and exhaustion.

The cargo vessel SZENT ISTVÁN is also depict on the mint sheet of 10Ft issued by Hungary on 16 September 1988, commemorating the 150th birthday of Gabor Baross (1848-1892).
Strange is that on the aft mast of the vessel a stamp is show as flag, the stamp is the first stamp issued by the Netherlands.
