18 December 1985 keel laid down.
10 April 1987 launched as the TAYMYR one sister the VAYGACH.
Tonnage 20.791 grt, 3.550 dwt, dim. 149.70 x 28.87 x 15.68m.
Powered by one KTL-40 nuclear-turbo electric reactor, 50.000 hp, three shafts, speed 18 knots in open water
Crew 110 including the flight crew and medical personnel.
30 June 1989 completed.
After delivery was she towed to the Baltiyskiy Zavod in Leningrad where her reactor system was installed.
She is specially designed as a low draft icebreaker for clearing rivers including the months and estuaries of ice and opening channels in order to make winter navigation possible.
2022 In service, managed and owned by the Murmansk Shipping Co., Murmansk. IMO No 8417481.
