Hiryu

Hiryu. A catamaran-type fire boat, built by Nippon Kokan Kabushiki Kaisha at Asano Dockyard. Laid down in October 1968 and launched in February 1969, being completed in May that year. She was designed and built for fire-fighting services to large tankers. Normal displacement is 251 tons, length 90ft. 2in., overall, beam 34ft. lin. Powered by two sets of oil engines; developing 2,200 b.h.p. Speed 13.5 knots. Complement 14.NC

Launched 21 January 1969.
Completed 04 March 1969.
December 1993 retired
2003 Broken up by Daikoku-cho, Yokahama.
