BUENOS AIRES GC-72 patrol craft

The Argentine Post issued a postage stamp in 2010 commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Argentinean Coast Guard. The stamps depict the patrol craft BUENOS AIRES CG-72 and a Puma helicopter in a joint operation at sea off the coast of Argentine, saving the crew from a liferaft.

Built as a steel hulled patrol vessel under yard No 921 by Blohm & Voss, Steinwerder, Germany for the Argentine Coast guard.
24 November 1978 the class was ordered
02 July 1979 launched as the BUENOS AIRES CG 72, one of the Z-28 class.
Displacement 70 tons standard, 81 tons full load. Dim. 27.65 x 5.30 x 2.65m. (draught), length bpp. 26 meter.
Powered by two MTU 8V331 TC92 diesel engines, 2,100 bhp, twin shafts, speed 22 knots.
Range by a speed of 12 knots, 1,200 mile.
Armament: 1 – 20mm AA 90 cal. Oerlikon GAM-B01. 2 – 12.7mm MGs.
Crew 15.
1979 Completed, based at Mar del Plata.

2010 Still in service by the Argentine Coast Guard.
