Built as a two mast schooner in the Sestri shipyard in Ponente, Italy in 1886, can not find the first owner.
Launched as the LUIGI PALMA.
Tonnage?, length 37 meter.
Sail area around 420 square meters.
Under Italian flag and registry.

First she carried marble from Italy to Great Britain, where she after discharging loaded coal for Brazil or Argentine.
Loaded thereafter in Buenos Aires grain for the European markets.
In this trade she was kept busy till 1933.

That year she was sold in Argentine and renamed PEGLI with the number 45.
She carried now potatoes and unions between Buenos Aires and Southern Brazil or went to Mar del Plata or upstream the Parana River to load timber.
All this years not much was altered on the ships hull, she got an engine built in by Astilleros Rio Santiago, and her sailing rigging was removed. When the engine was built in I could not find.
Now in use as a cargo motor vessel till March 1974 when she arrived from her last voyage from Paysandù, Uruguay.
Thereafter she was abandoned in the Luján River near the town Tigre.

1990 Bought by the current owner, Mr. Fernando Zuccaro from La Plata for the scrap price, she was in a very bad state, almost 85 % of the hull frames had to be renewed.
From old photographs and digital programs and the memory of LUIGI PALMA only crew member still alive, the hull, masts and rigging were restored, the restoration took over 10 years and carried out by the owner himself and the naval architect Ricardo Castro.

As given by the records of the New York Maritime Museum she is the second world oldest still sailing vessel.

Her restoration is completed and she takes part in some Tall Ship Races, but can not find if she ever took part in a Tall Ship Race.
