LE PROTECTEUR

Post by aukepalmhof » Fri Sep 10, 2010 10:16 pm

The design of this stamp is most probably made after a model in the Musée la Marine in Paris, which most probably depict the French warship PROTÉE (1748-1771) 74 guns.

There was a Le PROTECTEUR built in 1761 in Toulon as a ship-of-the-line and made after plans by Noel Pomet.
