The Lightweight Sharpie is an adaptation of the International Twelve Square Meter Sharpie.
It is approximately six meters in length with a beam of 1.47 meters. The weight is generally contained to about 86 kilograms. The Lightweight Sharpie is manned by a crew of three and as it is unballasted, it must be kept upright by crew weight alone.
A high degree of co-ordination between the helmsman, main hand and the forward hand on the trapeze is required to control this yacht.
Lightweight Sharpies is Australia compete annually in state and national championships.
