«Оdi» of Maldive Islands- fishing boat of 2.5-3t burden. Early boats had sewn planking. Decked; outboard rudder, tiller.Set a small mat sail; present boat sets a tall square sail to a centrally stepped mast. Crew of 9.

The vessel on the stamps is an ODI of which the “A Dictionary of the world’s Watercraft from Aak to Zumbra” gives:
Generic term for several types of carvel built boats used in the islands off the west coast of India. Some bluff-bowed, others have a hollow waterline and a high recurved stern. Most are sewn boats. Larger boats have a house amidships and step two mast (as seen on the stamp) A larger type from southern Maldives might be 27.4 meter long.
