She was built in John Wray & Sons shipyard in 1885 as Bacchante for an unknown British owner. Used as a fishing boat in the North Sea until she was sold to Iceland in 1897.
This 85 ton cutter renamed as Sigurfari, she was one of the most productive deck vessels in the area of Faxaflói bay, Reykjavik.
In 1919, she was sold to the Faroe Islands where she was used in fishing for half a century.
The Kiwanis Club, “Thyrill”, of Akranes, Iceland, purchased the ship in 1974 and donated it to the Akranes Museum Centre at Gar.
