Launched as the MAN GYONG BONG.
Tonnage 3,574 grt, 1,802 dwt, dim. 102.0m length. Depth 10.0m.
Passengers around 300.

1971 Completed.

2011 Was reported that she was refurbished and fitted out as the first North Korean cruise ship.
Used for the 21 hour passage between Rason to the resort area of Mount Kumgang near the South Korean border. At that time she carried about 130 passengers.
For how long she was in this service I do not known, but she was already soon there after replaced by the MAN GYONG BONG-92.
13 June 2012 was she deleted from Lloyds Registry – existence in doubt.

Has been listed since 2007 as owned by Rajin University of Marine Transport, so presumably been operating for some years as a training ship (following the Japanese ban in 2006 of a regular service there). Now returned to commercial service, operated in conjunction with Russian company "InvestStroyTrest" - details (in Russian)
