The stamp caption gives the name of this 19th century paddle-steamer as La Palmaria but none of the authorities I have consulted (E Argyle) is able to give me any information. The artist responsible for the design says that it was copied from a newspaper picture.
The ship appears to be a sister of Le Commerce (shown on a 1946 stamp of Monaco) of which little is known. A tariff bill belonging to her however is still in existence on which she is described as the Sardinian steam packet Le Commerce of Genoa. The Italian authorities in Genoa have no knowledge of the ship and have suggested that perhaps she was a French vessel trading under a flag of convenience. The French however dispute this having no record of a paddle-steamer of that name.
