ARBUTUS II built in 1940

In 2024 the Cayman issued a beautiful set of stamps for the 120th anniversary of the Cayman Shipping register. A pity they did not name the ships depict. I only found one, the 80c which shows the schooner, the ARBUTUS II, of which i found a little information on the internet.

Built in 1940 on Heber James Arch & Sons Shipyard, Cayman Islands for account of Warren Bodden.
Launched as the ARBUTUS II
Tonnage 187 ton, dim.?
Two masted, wooden hull, schooner rigged.
1940 completed.

A few days later a storm cast her back on shore at the shipyard, damaging her hull. Once repaired ARBUTUS set out for foreign ports to earn her living.
Eventually she was refitted as a motor vessel and continued a lucrative trade in lumber to the United States and Caribbean ports, explosives to South and Central America, general cargo to Nicaragua for the gold mines, and occasional cargo of bananes.
Ironically her last port of call was her original home port. ARBUTUS II wrecked on the rocks on which she had been built and launched.
Today her remains lie in shallow water off the bustling waterfront of George Town.
