ODESSA and GROZNYI paddle steamers

Thanks to Mr. Andreas von Mach I got some info on this two stamps issued by Ukraine in 2003, with a value of 1.00UAH.

According to him, she were the first Black Sea Russian steamers.

Built in Nikolaev, Ukraine for the Novorossijsk Stream Expedition.
27 July 1827 launched under the name ODESSA.
Dim. 105.8ft x 26.5ft.
Powered by two steam engines manufactured by Baird at St Petersburg, 70nhp.
Till 1835 in service.

The other ship is the HRIZNYI (GROZNYJ) built also at Nikolaev as a steam frigate for the Black Sea Fleet.
29 September 1843 launched.
Tonnage 473 ton (bm), dim. 143 x 26 x 11.7ft.
Steam engine of 120nhp.
Armed first with 1 – 36pdr. long gun, later 2 – 68pdr. carronades and 14 – 18pdr. carronades.
12 September 1855 scuttled at Sevastopol, during the Krim War.
1858 Refloated.
07 December 1858 deleted from navy list, and sold for breaking up.
