Built as bulk carrier under yard no 924 by Bremer Vulkan at Vegesack, Germany for the South India Shipping Corporation at Madras.
Launched under the name CHENNAI SELVAM.
Tonnage 24.365 grt, 18.959net, 43.124dwt. Dim. 203.2 x 28.6 x 11.6m.(draught)
Powered by a 9-cyl. Bremer-Vulkan M.A.N. diesel, 10.653 bhp., speed 14 knots. One screw.
Strengthened for ore cargoes, 7 holds.
December 1966 delivered as the last of five sisterships all built by Bremer-Vulkan.

Broken up at Bombay where she arrived 12 August 1989.
