The Delfinul, was built in 1930 by Quarnaro at Fiume, and at the time of the stamp issue was the only such vessel in the Roumanian Navy. Her surface displacement is 640 tons, with a submerged displacement of 817 tons. Armed with one 4.2in. gun and eight 21in. torpedo-tubes, she is driven by Sulzer diesel engines and electric motors giving her a surface speed of 14 knots and 9 knots when submerged. The Delfinul was laid down in 1927 but she was not taken over by Roumania until April 1936. During the Second World War she was considerably damaged and is now of doubtful efficiency.
