Built as a bulkcarrier under yard No. 875 by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg for Seereederei Frigga AG., Hamburg.
The hull was built in two sections, and after launched, towed to a dry-dock and welded together.
She was launched under the name WIDAR, two sisters the THOR and MERMOD.
Tonnage 78.954 grt, 55.861 nrt, 144.063 dwt, dim. 303.2 x 42.97 x 16.45m., length bpp 293m.
One 8-cyl. MAN diesel engine, 32.000 bhp., speed 16 knots. Single screw.
At that time she was the largest bulker built in Germany and under German flag, and had the largest diesel engine ever built in Germany.
Completed in 1971.
Mainly employed to carry ore to North Europe.
1984 Seereiderei Frigga A.G. are to withdraw from shipowning and will sell their four bulk carriers.
1984 Sold to Orient Marine Associates Ltd., Panama, renamed WINNA.
1989 Sold to Amica K/S Norway, managed by C.H. Sörensen & Sönner A/S, Arendal, Norway, and renamed AMICA.
