Presidente Rivera

Post by john sefton » Sat Apr 11, 2009 9:49 pm

I can't find out much about this tanker other than news re her oil spill as follows.
According to Jane's Fighting Ships 1988-89
the Presidente Rivera is an auxiliary ship of the Uruguayan
Navy, one of its two oil tankers that operate under charter to
the state-owned oil company (ANCAP).
Presidente Rivera, spilled roughly 800,000 gallons of oil into the Delaware River after straying from its shipping lane and hitting a rock, on June 25,
1989, in United States internal waters off Marcus Hook in the
Delaware River, the ship was preparing to off load Brazilian
fuel oil at a Sun Oil terminal and the balance was to be
delivered to ANCAP.
