CAP HORN trawler 1963

She was built as a side trawler under yard No 902 by Schichau Seebeckwerft, Bremerhaven for Le Garrec, Boulogne sur Mer, Franch.
Launched under the name CAP HORN.
Tonnage 473 gross 173 net, 370 dwt., dim. 52.91 x 9.53 x 4.827m., length bpp. 45.75m.
Powered by an 8-cyl. Klockner Humboldt Deutz diesel, 1.350 bhp., speed 12.5 knots. Controllable pitch propeller.
1963 Completed.

Late 1972 sold to Societe Anonyme de Peche, Maritime & De Ravitaillement (SAPMER).
Homeport, St Denis, Reunion.
She intends to use the trawler in the African waters.
03 January 1973 arrived Saint-Malo, Franc to be converted into a deep-freeze trawler.
Early 1975 the vessel was redrawn from fishing, and SAPMER decided to convert her into a crayfish catcher.
After she was converted is her registry port, Pointe des Galets, La Reunion.
She was used for 5 seasons as a crayfish catcher and finishing her last season which ended in April 1980, during this season she catches 488 tons of lobsters.
She was replaced in 1980 by the PIERRE-PLEVEN, with a length of 78 meter, who was renamed AUSTRAL, she is on TAAF sg 175 and 354.

The CAP HORN was sold in 1980 to Ioannis R. Fishing Shipping Co., Pireaus, Greece and renamed IOANNIS R.
1989 Sold to Arion II Fishing Co., Valetta, Malta and renamed ARION II.
Still listed in Lloyds 2001/02 but not a owner given.
